Shanghai Netcom Office and Shanghai Municipal Market Supervision Bureau conducted a "look back" inspection on personal information protection in key business districts.

Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai, November 14th (Reporter Cheng Siqi) Since June this year, the special law enforcement action of "Liangjian Pujiang Protection of Personal Information Rights and Interests in the Consumer Field" carried out by Shanghai Netcom Office, Shanghai Market Supervision Bureau and relevant industry authorities has entered the final stage. In order to test the effect of the previous work, on November 14th, law enforcement officers of Shanghai Netcom Office and Shanghai Municipal Market Supervision Bureau focused on key business districts, and carried out a "look back" inspection of personal information protection in multiple scenarios such as scanning code to order food, paying parking fees, learning and training for children, and renting charging treasures.

On-site inspection found that Starbucks, which had been interviewed, had rectified all the personal information collection problems found in the early stage; At the same time, the previous problems such as compulsory access to consumers’ personal information in shopping malls parking lots have also been solved. The "pure version" parking payment code logo is prominently posted in shopping malls, and consumers can pay parking fees "barrier-free" by scanning the code.

However, during the inspection, law enforcement officers found that some businesses still have problems such as excessive collection of personal information. The catering enterprise "Cai Lan-style dim sum" has the problem of frequently inducing consumers to join the membership; The problem of "7 minutes sweet" in fresh fruit tea enterprises is to induce consumers to obtain accurate location information; In the process of personal information collection, the training institution "Children’s Painting Forest Innovation Art Education" has some problems, such as the small program has no special privacy policy for minors under the age of 14, and it is mandatory to obtain accurate location information.

Law enforcement officers corrected the existing enterprises on the spot, demanding that enterprises fully fulfill their personal information protection obligations and immediately make serious rectification. Enterprises with problems also said that the next step will be to strictly abide by the personal information protection law, the consumer rights protection law and other relevant regulations in accordance with the inspection requirements, and make immediate rectification by analogy. It is reported that the two-level online information and market supervision departments in Shanghai have also carried out a "look back" inspection of key business districts in the territory recently.

Law enforcement officers of the Network Law Enforcement Supervision Department of Shanghai Netcom Office said that this special law enforcement action has carried out comprehensive management of personal information protection through various means such as legal training, compliance guidelines, on-site inspection, law enforcement shock, and media supervision. At present, 6,043 enterprises have been inspected, more than 520 enterprises have been interviewed according to law, and more than 50 cases of personal information protection have been investigated.

In the next step, Shanghai Netcom Office will continue to thoroughly rectify the problems of "over-taking, compulsory taking, induced taking and illegal use" of personal information under the consumption scene, strengthen law enforcement, effectively protect the legitimate rights and interests of citizens’ personal information, and promote enterprises to actively fulfill their personal information protection obligations, and strive to form a healthy and standardized cyberspace order.
