This is the first cub born to a captive giant panda in the Panda Center this year, which indicates that the giant panda in the center has officially entered the "cubing season".

After about two months, ‘ Xinxin ’ Pregnancy manifestations such as reduced food intake and increased activity occurred. On May 28, prenatal irritability occurred, and a cub was born at 22: 51 on May 29. " Yang Changjiang, director of the Breeding Park of the Wolong Shenshuping Base of the Panda Center, said.

The cub close to the full moon weighs 721.8 grams. Initially, this cub is female. " Wei Rongping, director of the Wolong Shenshuping Base of the Panda Center, said.

　　It is reported that after the giant panda "Xinxin" entered the third trimester of pregnancy, the breeding team of Panda Center took turns to be on duty 24 hours a day. Through remote video surveillance and on-site observation, it monitored the physiological behavior, production and rearing of "Xinxin" and timely analyzed and judged the health status of giant pandas and their cubs.

　　The Panda Center has created the world’s largest captive population of giant pandas since it overcame the problem of giant panda breeding in the 1990s. By strengthening pedigree management, delineating the core captive population, and scientifically formulating the panda pairing plan, the transformation and sustainable development of captive population from quantity priority to quality priority have been realized. By improving the management level of giant panda breeding, carrying out research on wild training, release and field introduction, it provides strong scientific and technological support for the construction of giant panda national park.
