Putin says Russian economic strategy works
Xinhua News Agency, St. Petersburg, June 16 (Reporter An Xiaomeng, Liu Kai) Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on June 16 that the second quarter of last year was the most difficult period for the Russian economy. Facts have proved that a series of strategic measures implemented by Russia at that time were effective and the economy showed growth momentum.
Putin said that the Russian economy is improving because the government effectively combines budget and monetary policies, improves the freedom of enterprise development, provides targeted support for vulnerable groups such as the poor, accelerates the improvement of infrastructure in transportation and logistics, and promotes an open economy.
Putin said that despite the difficulties in the past year, Russia still actively participated in the development of the world economy. Russia will not close its doors and is willing to create the necessary conditions for foreign manufacturers to operate in Russia.
Oreshkin, assistant to the Russian President, said in April this year that since July 2022, the Russian economy has shown a positive growth trend and the unemployment rate has remained at a low level. It is estimated that by the end of 2023, Russia’s GDP will increase by 1% to 2%.
The 2023 St. Petersburg International Economic Forum was held from 14th to 17th. The theme of this forum is "Sovereign development is the foundation of a just world, let’s work together to benefit future generations".
